ISSUE 9 - 4TH JUNE 2010 (Revised)

The Collegiate Chat is a fortnightly letter which aims to keep you informed on the latest happenings in the school, upcoming school events and any information which the Principal deems necessary for all to know. Each issue will have a two-week planner at the bottom of the page for you to keep on your fridge door! The full year planner is available on our website at www.collegiatehigh.co.za.

Please note that parents may submit the achievements of their daughters to be considered for inclusion on the “We are Proud of...” section to the following address: jenee@cghs.co.za. Should you wish to receive our bi-weekly Chat via email, please visit our website and signup on our Home page. Your email address will then be added automatically to our database for all future communication.

100 CLUB

Our quarterly meeting on Thursday 20 May was enjoyed by all. The Hospitality girls really spoilt us with their catering and the new Ivy Leaf has proved to be an impressive venue. We hope to see more members attending next term on Tuesday 17 August.

ENTRANCE GATES

We are once again asking for your co-operation with respect to vehicles driving into the grounds. The seniors were spoken to in a guidance session about the danger of approaching vehicles when the driver is asking for directions. Once they have been pulled into the car, there is very little they can do.
There are still parents who insist on the motor gate being left open particularly on Saturday morning, so we cannot monitor who is on the premises. Please understand the need for your unmarked vehicles to remain on the verge.

CHARITY BAZAAR

Please note that our Charity Bazaar will be held on the first Friday of next term, I.e. 16 July, from 1.30 pm onwards. All proceeds go to Christmas Cheer. This has always been an afternoon of fun and all friends and family are welcome to come along.

MAX MOUTHGUARDS

On Tuesday 8 June, Karen Venter of Dental Sense will be in the office of Jeanette Mackie from 2.00pm, for all those hockey players or sportswoman who are interested in obtaining the Max Mouthguards.  The cost will be R400 a discount of R150. Hockey has become a dangerous sport with girls experiencing facial injuries. Please feel free to make use of this opportunity on Tuesday.

 HOCKEY ACHIEVEMENTS

Congratulations to the following girls who have been selected to represent EP U14 Hockey.

They will be taking part in a hockey tournament in Stellenbosch during the first week of the holidays

FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Dear Parents,

Exams are almost over and we now come to an important part of the exam process. This is the time when your daughter is able to check through her papers to see exactly how she has done. If any areas need more attention, those will become notiecable and your daughter will be able to take remedial action. It is therefore essential for your daughters to be at school next week. Teachers will be available to discuss your daughter's results from 16:30 - 18:30 next term on Tuesday 13th July 2010.

On Wednesday all classes will be discussing their stalls for the bazaar, which will take place on the first Friday of next term. We will then end off the term learning the Diski dance.

On behalf of the staff I wish you all an enjoyable holiday during this world cup time.
