Dear Parents
We hope that all Muslim families enjoyed a happy Eid.
We are nearing the end of yet another term. The Grade 11s are busy preparing for the Matric Farewell Dinner to be held on Thursday 7 October. We appeal to parents to help by donating small prizes to be awarded on the evening. Please support the Grade 11 Chocolate hamper competition. The money raised will be used to ease the cost of both the Farewell Dinner and the Matric Dance next year.
The Sports Teachers are hoping to take the Hockey girls on tour to the Netherlands next year. We ask you to support their fund raising drive by buying a ticket in the soon to be launched Cellphone raffle.
We have started rehearsing for the Carol Service to be held on 24 November at the Feather Market Centre. The non-Carol girls are busy making blankets for the patients at the Elizabeth Donkin Hospital.
Speech Night is on 19 October. A reminder that all Grade Ten to Twelves are expected to attend.
The Matric Valedictory service will take place in the Quad on the morning of 21 October. All Matric parents are invited to attend.
I would like to end with the following quote from Corita Kent; "Life is a succession of moments. To live each one is to succeed."
The staff and I wish you a happy and restful holiday.
Mrs F. R. Biggs

The annual Speech and Drama Festival took place on 7 and 8 September. It certainly was a "festive" affair for a number of Collegiate girls who proved to have a flair for various forms of vocal expression. Kirsti Limbert (A1) and Donna de Jongh (D5) are to be congratulated on the sensitive interpretations of their monologues; Kirsti obtained a silver award and Donna obtained a gold award. Khanyisa Nogaya (D3), Bronté Morton (D5) and Donna de Jongh (D5) all obtained gold awards for their unprepared speeches. They carried out their speeches with poise, intelligence and humour! However, it was the TV actuality section that was the highlight. In this section participants are given 30 minutes to put together a Carte Blanche type of TV show. Khanyisa Nogaya (D3), Bronté Morton (D5), Kelsey Blignaut (D2) and Donna de Jongh (D5) work-shopped a satirical piece that wittily mocked television news, and obtained a double gold award! A word of encouragement to all other Collegiate girls who feel dramatically inclined - come and join the drama society, CATS, and you too can share in the theatrical thrills!

It is an important life skill to be organised and to do one’s work in good time. Too many girls neglect to bring their sports bags, lunches or projects to school with them. These are then delivered to the office for them during the morning causing the office to become cluttered. Please teach your daughters to be responsible and organised or to suffer the consequences.
