It is such a privilege to work and learn in an environment that is aesthetically pleasing, and Collegiate certainly is a beautiful environment in which to be. Apart from the stunning gardens in the quadrangle, the flowers in the entrance and foyer are a delight to all who pass through these areas. We would like to thank all the Moms who have so generously supplied flowers for the foyer throughout the year and have helped to make Collegiate beautiful.

The academic year is almost at an end and the girls are beginning to think about the holidays. Last Wednesday we had our last official function of the year. I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the people, especially the Music Staff who worked so hard to make this evening possible. A special thank you to Miss Yates for conducting and training the combined Schools’ choirs and to the girls for their beautiful performance on the night.
We will hold our final assembly today, Monday 29 November. Reports will be handed out on Thursday 9 December between 07h00 and 09h00 in the Stevenson Hall. Any reports that are not collected by 09h00 will be posted.
We, the Staff and I, wish you all a very happy festive season.
Mrs Faith Biggs

ALGOA TOASTMASTERS’ YOUTH LEADERSHIP PROGRAMME
Toastmasters is an international organization aimed at improving people’s communication and leadership skills. One of the programmes offered by Toastmasters world-wide is the Youth Leadership Programme which aims to assist youth in developing self-confidence, public-speaking and leadership skills.
Mrs Erasmus, assisted by Ms Kromhout and fellow members of the Algoa Toastmasters Club, will present the course. It will take place over 8 weeks, beginning on 24 January and culminating in a dinner held in the ninth week. The cost is R110 per person and must be paid to Mrs Collier in the bursar’s office.
If your daughter, who must be in Grade 11 next year, would like to make use of this valuable opportunity to grow in confidence and learn group leadership skills, she must be prepared to commit to 8 weeks of the course each Monday evening from 17h00 to 19h00 in the library, and to the dinner in the ninth week.
Numbers are limited to 20, and will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis. In other words, the first 20 to pay R110 next year to Mrs Collier will be able to attend the course.
If you have or your daughter has any queries about the course, please speak to Mrs Erasmus in the new school year.
