Subject Choices
The General Education and Training Phase (GET – Grades 8 and 9)
The GET phase specifies the following compulsory subjects:
English Home Language
Afrikaans First Additional Language
Mathematics
Natural Science
History- Geography
Economic Management Science
Arts & Culture
Technology
Life Orientation
In addition, our Grade 8 and 9 pupils take Computer Literacy. They also have a choice of taking either Music or French or Xhosa.
The Further Education and Training Phase (FET – Grades 10 to 12)
These are the three years leading to the National Senior Certificate.
The FET curriculum requires learners to take 7 subjects, made up as follows:
Four Core Subjects (Compulsory)
- Two languages, one of which must be a Home Language ( we offer English)
- Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy
- Life Orientation
Three Electives – our subjects offered are currently:
- Accounting
- Computer Applications Technology
- Consumer Studies
- French Second Additional language
- Geography
- Hospitality
- History
- Life Sciences
- Music
- Physical Sciences
- Visual Arts
We try to accommodate most subject combinations where possible depending on numbers. It is also possible, with the permission of the school to take more than seven subjects, outside the normal school timetable. For example, Music can be taken as an extra subject.
