Sport Awards

House Awards – Sport

Awards are made at the discretion of the Sports Awards Committee and take into consideration not only achievement but also conduct, attitude and participation.

Awards are subject to the learners showing mature behaviour, sportsmanship and commitment at all times. 

Motivations must accompany the recommendation setting out the school’s criteria which have been met, or the Provincial or National representation criteria which have been achieved.

 

The Awards committee members consist of:

   o Deputy Principal (Co-Curricular);
o   Head of Sport;
o   Head of sport under consideration and,
o   First Team coach of the sport under consideration.   
In the case of a 50/50 vote, the Deputy Principal (Co-Curricula) would then have the deciding vote. 

The Following criteria will be taken into CONSIDERATION when making an award:

 

Athletics / Cross Country / Swimming

Chess / Cricket / Hockey / Netball / Squash  /Artistic Swimming / Tennis / Water Polo

Qualifying standards achieved at least twice at official meetings. (See notice board or contact Sports Office for qualifying standards)

·         1 year 80% Participation in Collegiate 1st team

·         A strong player

·         A positive contribution to their team and sporting code at Collegiate

·         Provincial/National representation

Silver Bar

Qualifying standards achieved at least twice at official meetings. (See notice board or contact Sports Office for qualifying standards)

·         1-2 years 80% participation in Collegiate 1st team

·         Above average player

·         A significant contribution to their team and sporting code at Collegiate.

·         Provincial/National representation

Blazer

Qualifying standards achieved at least twice at official meetings. (See notice board or contact Sports Office for qualifying standards)

·         1-3 years 80% participation in Collegiate 1st team

·         Exceptional player

·         An invaluable contribution to their team and sporting code at Collegiate.

·         Provincial/National representation

Principal Award – Provincial or National Representation in a Non-School Sport may submit motivation to the Awards Committee. It must be submitted to the Head of Sport, 2 weeks prior to House Awards.
