During the holidays, the Inter-Provincial Hockey Tournaments took place. We had players in all the A and B Eastern Province teams.
The EP 14A team achieved a noteworthy 5th place finish at the A section U14A IPT held in Johannesburg. Sophia Jansen was the Top Goal-scorer at the tournament and was also awarded the accolade of Top Mid-fielder. A huge congratulations to our U14A girls who were part of this team – Sophia Jansen, Josie van Heerden, Mary Scowby, Linathi Bidli and Grace Thomas.
The EP U14B team finished 5th at their tournament, which was held in Paar. We are extremely proud of Jemma Jamieson and Mia Jordaan who were part of this team.
In the U16 age group, we also had several Collegiate learners representing Eastern Province at the respective IPT tournaments. The EP U16A ladies did exceptionally well, walking away with silver medals at the tournament. Salome Oosthuizen was the Goalkeeper of the Tournament and both Salome and Emihle Mazomba were selected to the SA U16A team. Well done too, to Lusanele Ntsepe, Gaby de Doncker, Jade Grobler and Jana Prinsloo for their outstanding performances in the EP U16A team.
The EP U16B team participated at the regional tournament in Paarl and finished a most commendable 5th place. Many compliments were shared with the school for the fine performances from Nolitha Makasana, Lauren Duckworth and Casey Grobler.
The A section tournament for U18 girls was held in Hilton. Collegiate had an incredible eight girls in the squad and finished unbeaten at the top of their pool in the group stage of the tournament. Unfortunately, the semi-final and bronze medal match did not go in EP’s favour with the team narrowly missing out on a medal. Congratulations to Cassidy Williams for being selected to the SA U18B squad, and to Kerrin Gillies and Taryn Peltenburg for being named in the extended SA U17 squad. Congratulations also to Eden Oliver, Gemma Bower, Ayanda Klaas, Kate Brennan and Khazimla Nogalawe for their part in the success of this team.
The EP U18B team participated in the regional IPT held in Paarl and faced some fierce competition. Jenna Coetzee kept the Collegiate flag flying high with a tenacious performance for her team, who finished a commendable 4th overall. Well done, Jenna.

At the end of Term Three, our netball teams travelled to Humansdorp to play Nico Malan. Playing netball against Nico Malan is always a fierce rivalry. The derby ended with 5 losses and 7 wins with the 1st team winning their match 27-26 after being 5 goals behind.

The final against Hudson ended in a draw therefore the match went into overtime. The halves were 3 minutes a side. Collegiate took home a silver medal after losing 23-24 to Hudson. I ask that the team come up to receive their medals.
Thank you to Iviwe Nonganga and Amilcar Hermans for stepping up and playing in the blue and the white. A sincere thank you to the girls who came to support. Your support did not go unnoticed.
This Festival did not simply happen. There was much planning over several months. Mrs Grobbelaar worked extremely hard and is thanked. In addition, some of the teams from out of town were accommodated in the Hostel. Our Hostel staff ensured their stay was comfortable. We appreciate this additional work during the holiday.
Bronze medalists! We are proud of our invitational team that competed in the Sunridge Primary School Fast Five tournament. What an exciting evening.
ASPIRE PROGRAMME
This term, as we continue with our theme of "Living our Values, Building our Future," we begin a focused journey — one that asks not just how we survive, but how we thrive.
How many apples are in an apple seed? This is not a trick question. It is a question about potential. Because within one tiny seed lies not just one apple — but potentially an entire orchard. And in the same way, each one of you holds immense and immeasurable potential inside you. You are the seed. You are the orchard. But here is the challenge: a seed, even a good one, does not thrive on its own. So, we ask another question: If a seed does not thrive, do we blame the seed? Most often, no. Very few seeds are “bad.” When a tree fails to bear fruit, we examine the environment. Was there enough light? Enough water? Was the soil right for that kind of seed? Because not all seeds thrive in the same conditions. Some need more time. Some need shelter. Some need space. All need nurturing. And so do we. No two people are the same. We all need different things to grow. And sometimes, even when things around us are not perfect, if what is inside us is strong — we can still thrive.
The Aspire programme taking place in July and August offers learners an opportunity to develop skills to thrive. We are grateful to our guest speakers and presenters.
