A tribute to Ms Linda Louise Swain
It is with deep sadness and heartfelt gratitude that we remember a remarkable member of the Collegiate community, Linda-Louise Swain, an Old Girl of the Class of 1977.
Her journey with Collegiate from Sub A to her matric year, and beyond, is a testament to a lifelong bond with the school. At school, her passion for literature, writing, creativity and the dramatic arts shone through. She returned to Collegiate as an alumna, mentor, part-time educator, and adjudicator at many school events. She offered her time generously, her insight thoughtfully, and her encouragement freely. Annually, the Linda-Louise Swain Trophy for Achievement in Dramatic Arts is awarded as a prestigious award at the Prize-Giving.
She had a rare gift: the ability to see potential in others and to draw it out with kindness and quiet strength. Many Girls of the College, along with staff members, recall how she inspired them to be brave, to speak, to write, to perform, and to create.
She truly embodied Collegiate’s motto, facta non verba - deeds, not words. Her compassion towards others was profound. Her actions left a lasting imprint, far more powerful than words alone ever could. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched. She remains an enduring example of what it means to be a Collegiate girl: compassionate, courageous, and committed to making a difference.
Facta non verba.
