National All Girls' Festival: 28 - 30 April, Stellenbosch

We wish all our girls and staff well as they travel to the Western Cape for the All Girls' Festival, where we will compete in 16 different disciplines, against the top 20 public girl schools in our country. It is with much pride that we represent our school.

Literary Week

We celebrated our annual Literary Festival with a theme of preserving our world through the power of words, heritage and nature. Guest speakers addressed our learners. A group of Grade Tens read to our junior sisters in Grade One at the junior school. This has become a special yearly tradition and moment of connection with our ‘little sisters’ across the field through reading stories. Interact visited EP Children's Home to read and donate books. We visited the Main Library in town with a talk on Heritage. There were book exhibitions and a creative writing workshop. Our Drama Girls held a word festival picnic in the quad. We had the Old Pot–New Pot book character dress-up. For two hours this morning, the school was a haven of peace and escapism as we all read for two hours in the annual Readathon.

These sponsors donated prizes for Readathon and Book Character Day prizes:

Cold Storage Group (Supa Value Foods) Kariega

Fogarty’s Bookshop

Baywest Mall

Two Pairs Deli

And others

Fogarty's Books hosted a book launch at Collegiate Girls' High School for Rachel Kolisi's book, Falling Forward, in March. The book is Number One on the South African Book Rankings. Her message referenced faith, compartmentalising, being present in the moment and the value of moving forward with grace, forgiveness and purpose.

Netball

In March, the U14, U15 and U16 teams participated in the annual Skommeltoernooi at Despatch. The purpose of this tournament was to give players the opportunity to try out different combinations on court, build team chemistry, and see which partnerships work best together. It’s still early in the season, so this was an important stepping stone as we continue developing our teams.

U14A won 2/3 games

U14B won 2/3 games

U14C lost 3 matches

U15A won 2/3 matches

U15B won 1/3 matches

U16B won 2/3 matches

Our Netball teams played some lovely netball against Rhenish and local teams on 18-19 April. We would like to congratulate Lillian Krige on her 100 caps for the First Netball Team. It is always a pleasure to host our friends from Stellenbosch.

The U14, U16 and 1st netball teams took on strong competition at the Paarl Girls Netball Festival. Over 3 days of tough matches, they showed resilience, teamwork, and growth, gaining valuable experience against top schools. The teams returned with new skills, stronger bonds, and plenty to build on for the season ahead. Well done to all who participated!

Squash

Congratulations to Faatima Packery who participated in 2026 SA Top 16 Squash Junior Tournament where the top 16 players per age group in the country play against each other. Faatima is currently ranked 7th in the U15 category.

Interact

We are proud of our girls who donated Easter Eggs and a special mention must be made of Shiloh Searle. She packed all of the Interact donations of Easter Eggs and after our visit to the EP Children's Home, arranged that donated goodies be delivered to children at Love Story and Maranatha and to retired people at Nazareth House and Buffelsfontein Old Age Home. This is Facta Non Verba at work and we are grateful to all the Collegiate families who donated to make this kindness possible.

Recently, a group of our Interact Club learners visited patients in the oncology ward at Livingstone Hospital as part of the Make Room For Her initiative by Pink Flamingo. During their visit, they hung new curtains, delivered biscuits with handmade cards, and spent time connecting with patients.

This initiative reflects one of our core values, compassion, and gave our learners the opportunity to bring comfort and connection to those facing challenging times. We are proud of the kindness they showed by offering warm smiles and a listening ear to each patient they met.

House Day

St Michael and St George House Day is where we celebrate the house and the achievements of our learners in Summer sport, Culture and Outside achievements. We were fortunate to have Jeanie Steyn, a National Netball Player with a Masters in Fine Art, with us as our guest speaker with her inspiring words. This was a morning well spent together in our hall, celebrating our Bodas.

STEAM Week

Collegiate Girls’ High School had a wonderful, inspiring STEAM Week in March!

From AI insights with Jendamark, a thrilling Maths Competition, and live science experiments, to robotics workshops building and racing LEGO robots—our learners explored the endless possibilities of Science, Tech, Engineering, Art, and Math.

Plus, they showcased creativity with math-inspired art posters and wrapped up with our E-Sports showdown, the Collegiate Console Clash! We celebrate curiosity, innovation, and teamwork.

Grade Ten Fun Day

From flags and fast-paced races, to trivia battles and scavenger hunts. The Grade Tens had energy, showing up with vigour, friendship, and true team spirit.

Waterpolo

We are proud of Brigid Guest, Alexis Fourie, Charlotte van Bochove and Mr Zondani (Assistant Coach) on their capping ceremony for U19 Nelson Mandela Bay Ladies GIT Team and for competing in the Gauteng Invitational from 9-12 April held at St David’s Marist Inanda.

Swimming

Congratulations to Sienna Gous and April who represented the EC Open Water Team at the SA National Open Water Championships in Jeffrey Bay, in some tough conditions. April swam her personal best in the 3km and Sienna finished 2nd in the 5km (14-16 years).

Pearson Prestige Gala Results: The Grey and Collegiate combined team took first place! We are incredibly proud of our swimmers.

Aquatics Day

We immersed ourselves in tradition, teamwork and spirited cheering at the inter-house swimming gala at the pools. From synchronized swimming displays to the thrilling water polo battles, every moment was packed with energy and unity. The Matrics enjoyed the final splash and sang our school song with vigour, proving that tradition isn’t just followed—it’s made. Special mention must be made of our Bodas who broke two relay records by an incredible 6 seconds and 7 seconds, respectively. Madison Higgs also broke the U16 100m backstroke.

Music

Congratulations to our C of Saxes for a stunning performance at the Feather Market Hall!

The much-loved Proms ’Neath the Tower took place on Sunday, 15 March 2026, at Grey High School. Our Concert Band joined in the event in the Memorial Quad for an afternoon of music under the tower, featuring talented Grey musicians together with special guests.

On 25 March, the Gr 9 Music learners and staff attended the Open Day of the Feather Market Organ Society. 700 learners from Gqeberha attended the educational concert where our girls had the opportunity to learn more about this majestic instrument as well as other instruments. Two of our matriculants, Aisha Mxokozeli and Cwenga Williams, have performed a vocal duet “For Good”, accompanied by Mrs Agenbag. Their performance was applauded with an overwhelming appreciation.

Our choir had the privilege to perform at the Falling Forward-Rachel Kolisi event at the Boardwalk. What an honour it was!

Leadership

Strong leadership grows when ideas are shared.

The Prefects of Grey High welcomed the Prefects from our sister school, Collegiate Girls’ High, for a Speed Network leadership meet. The afternoon created space for open conversation as the boys and girls exchanged ideas on leadership, shared advice, and spoke honestly about the challenges that come with guiding their peers.

The Grey boys welcomed the girls with a rose before the conversations began, setting the tone for a warm and respectful gathering.

A special thank you to Mrs Sue Atherton for preparing delicious snacks for the prefects. Your care and attention helped make the afternoon even more enjoyable.

Bring it On!

Standing ovation on opening night! What an incredible performance.

This vibrant and energetic musical reflects our school’s commitment to nurturing creativity, confidence and collaboration. We are grateful to the talented learners of Collegiate Girls’ High School, together with learners from our brother school, Grey High School, and Victoria Park High School, who brought the story to life with enthusiasm, dedication and spirit. Their efforts, together with the many hours of preparation by our committed staff and production team, have made this performance possible. This production was also a wonderful example of collaboration between neighbouring schools, bringing young performers together in a shared celebration of creativity and teamwork.

School productions such as this are far more than performances on a stage. They provide meaningful opportunities for learners to discover their talents, form lasting friendships and grow in confidence as they work together towards a common goal.

Bring It On celebrates energy, resilience and the power of teamwork. These qualities extend far beyond the spotlight and echo the spirit of determination and camaraderie that characterises our school community.

In many ways, this spirit of teamwork and shared effort reflects what we value most at Collegiate – a community where everyone contributes their gifts and together create something greater than any one person could achieve alone.

Our sincere thanks go to the director, creative director, choreographers, production team and staff whose vision, dedication and countless hours of work have brought this production to life.

We are immensely proud of what our drama and music departments accomplish each year, and this production is no exception.
