Indoor Hockey
PSI Nationals (Pro Series Indoor Hockey) took place in Cape Town from the 6th to the 18th of December. Collegiate Girls’ High School had many of our current and past learners participating in this event and some wonderful accolades were achieved.
The Vipers 14A girls finished unbeaten and top of their pool in the group stages. After losing their semi final encounter to the Tshwane Titans, they showed grit and determination to secure a bronze medal. Congratulations to Linathi Bidli, Sarah Black and Josie van Heerden, as well as coaches Cody Posthumus and Melissa Gillies. Well done to Mary Scowby who was named a non-traveling ALL STAR and an extra special congratulations to Sophia Jansen who was named in the ALL STAR team to travel to Europe in 2027.
We are equally proud of the outstanding efforts of the u18 YELLOW Team who also secured a BRONZE medal in the Shield Section of the tournament. Well done to Rachel Creighton, Charlotte Eary, Lauren Duckworth, Peyton Brooks, Emily Manson and Sophia Jansen for clinching the bronze medal in showdowns.
The Vipers 18A team participated in the CUP section of the tournament finishing top of their pool and ultimately winning a silver medal. They beat the Knights in their semi-final match to secure their place in the final against the Durban Panthers. The Vipers scored first and led 1-0 at half time, but a feisty performance from the Panthers saw them snatch the winning goal with 30 seconds left to play. Well done to Cassidy Williams, Gemma Bower, Anna Porter and Kate Brennan AND a special congratulations to Taryn Peltenburg and Kerrin Gillies for being selected to the ALL STAR team. Well done coaches Cody Posthumus and Melissa Gillies on your success with this team.

The IEB Further Studies English and Mathematics results were released towards the end of December. The results were excellent with all passing. A thank you to our teachers involved in Further Studies English and Mathematics for their roles and the hard work being put in. Thank you to Jessamy Kromhout for her passion and dealing with the administration. The average for the 14 English Further Studies learners was 65,8%, five securing B symbols and Erin Pretorius attaining an A of 82%. All three Further Studies Mathematics learners achieved As: Nazimira Soomar 86%, Jennifer Friskin 98% and Maria Freercks 99%. Jennifer and Maria also placed in the top 1% of candidates who wrote the Mathematics papers calculus and algebra.
National Senior Certificate Matric Results
The Class of 2025 have received their National Senior Certificate results, and we celebrate a milestone that speaks volumes about determination, resilience and commitment. There were 130 Collegiate candidates who wrote the examinations and 99.2% qualified for degree courses and 0.8% qualified for diploma courses. In addition to impressive NSC results, Collegiate had a number of learners enrolled for the IEB Further Studies Mathematics and English programmes.
These numbers reflect academic excellence, but we are reminded too of something even more important: education is not only about marks. It is about growth, character, and the ability to thrive in a changing world. Let us not forget: success is deeply personal. Our school celebrates every learner who attained their personal goals, whether that was passing a subject, improving a grade, or simply believing in themselves again. Each learner has the power to make a positive impact and to contribute meaningfully in their respective paths.
As the writer John Dewey said, “Education is not preparation for life; education is life itself.” The journey of the Class of 2025 has been a testament to this truth. They began high school in a year when COVID-19 and lockdowns were a reality. They faced uncertainty, isolation, and challenges that no generation before had to endure. Yet, they adapted, they persevered, and they emerged stronger. That resilience will serve them far beyond the classroom.
It is a huge honour to report on such excellent results. We are pleased with the grade average of 71.33%. Furthermore, 12 of the 19 NSC subject averages were 70% or more.
Impressively, 100% of our young ladies achieved above 50% as an aggregate and 17% achieved an A aggregate.
The Class of 2025 has shown us that excellence is not just in results—it is in resilience, in character, and in the courage to keep moving forward. We are proud of our learners, and we cannot wait to see the incredible impact they will make in the world. They now go out into the world as Collegiate Old Girls that form an unique sisterhood.
Collegiate prides itself on its academic excellence, providing a balanced education in the sciences, humanities and arts. Both inside and outside the classroom, the school’s approach emphasises a curriculum which will equip pupils with the skills and confidence needed in a changing world. Collegiate has through the years maintained a high work ethic which is evident in our outstanding results over many years. We have a dedicated team of experienced teachers, each contributing to the success of our learners academically.
We acknowledge that these results are not only a reflection of individual efforts. The Class of 2025 are courageous women who took the value of responsibility to heart, and have worked to make a better world by equipping themselves with the self-discipline, skills and knowledge needed to contribute positively. We know that each learner does not attain the level of responsibility needed to achieve at this level without the support of a team. We acknowledge the supportive parents and guardians, the encouraging teachers, the dedicated learners and a school that provides a platform for learners to reach their full potential.
We thank the Collegiate Community who make Collegiate the proud educational institution that it is and that gives its learners a solid foundation on which to build their lives.
