Collegiate prides itself on its academic excellence, providing a balanced education in the sciences, humanities and arts. Both inside and outside the classroom, the approach emphasizes a curriculum which will equip pupils with the skills and confidence needed in a changing world. Collegiate has through the years maintained a high work ethic which is evident in our outstanding results over many years. We have a dedicated team of experienced teachers, each contributing to the success of our pupils academically.

We have a Mathematics support programme which runs during the school morning. In addition, there is an extra-curricular peer tutoring system in Mathematics, Physical Sciences, Accounting, French (SAL) and isiXhosa (FAL). This support programme is supervised by subject teachers. There is also an English (HL) and Afrikaans (FAL) tutoring programme at which the tutoring is done by language teachers. Furthermore, girls are encouraged to participate in various competitions in order to widen their learning experience.

Collegiate has a wide subject choice. We follow the promotion requirements as set out be the Department of Education.

The learning environment includes a well-equipped resource centre, with an e-library powered by Overdrive, and two computer laboratories, where the girls have controlled access to the Internet for research and educational purposes. The school also has a BYOD policy and with the campus having full wi-fi access, girls can access the internet and the school learner network at any time. It is compulsory for all girls to have a device and textbooks and resources are available on the MiEbooks app, powered by ITSI.

All classrooms are equipped to use technology in teaching and learning. There are data-projectors and wi-fi access in all rooms. Numerous classrooms also have visualisers in them and certain classrooms have apple-tvs.

We offer the Advanced Programme in Mathematics (AP Maths) subject from Grades 9 to 12. In Grade 12 the pupils write the IEB examination in the subject. We also offer the Advanced Programme in English (AP English) from Grade 11 to 12, with the learners writing the IEB examination in Grade 12.

Many of our learners enter annual Olympiads in various subjects such as English, Afrikaans, Mathematics (AMEESA and Harmony), Mathematical Literacy, Accounting, Physical Sciences, Life Sciences and Computer Applications Technology. Some of our girls do exceptionally well in these examinations.

Three Grade 12 pupils who have performed well in Science and Mathematics are selected to take part in the annual MINQUIZ organised by MINTEK.

Each year Collegiate enters the Science Expo with a number of our girls earning gold, silver or bronze medals. We usually have two or three girls who are invited to attend the National Science Expo in September each year, and have girls invited to attend the International Expo from time to time.

Selected learners participate in the Nelson Mandela University STEM programme which aims to prepare learners for careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and related Management/Mathematics (STEM) fields.

Our Music and Drama departments enter girls in various categories in the Eisteddfods. Each year there are also Music girls who are selected to perform in the National Youth Orchestra. Their results are often outstanding. Girls also enter the Afrikaans Kunstefees.

Each September all Grade 8 – 11 pupils write the national SACEE language examination, with our girls frequently achieving a top place in their grade.
